We demand the immediate suspension of any euthanasia orders for Fenix, a white Shih Tzu seized on March 21, 2025. Fenix has now been in custody for 113 calendar days, and her attorney is actively appealing to the higher courts. Any execution before the appeal process concludes is a flagrant violation of due process and a grave injustice to a cherishe
family member—held for 113 calendar days without notification to her legal owner or attorney, and now facing execution before February 13, the very day of her birth and the date her counsel has secured to present critical testimony.
Scheduled execution date: February 13 (Fenix’s birthday)
Legal action: Owner and attorney have filed an appeal
We demand urgent and decisive action to save Fenix, a white Shih Tzu in Norrköping, who is facing unjust euthanasia under deeply flawed animal control procedures. This situation is not only heartbreaking—it is a clear failure of due process, transparency, and ethical responsibility.
On March 21, 2025, Fenix and another dog, Lucy, were seized by Animal Control. Despite being healthy and cared for, Lucy was euthanized and cremated without notifying her caretaker or legal owner. She was denied the chance to be saved. The County refused to wait for a legal decision before proceeding—circumventing basic legal safeguards.
Even more disturbing, Hemtjänst workers, who regularly interacted with the animals and could attest to their wellbeing, were barred from providing testimony. The same fate met other witnesses—silenced
when they should have been heard. This violates the spirit of Lex Maja, part of Sweden’s Animal Welfare Act (2018), which empowers caregivers to report suspected neglect. When their voices are excluded, the entire system fails.
